Indications

De- sensitizing agent and Prevent cavities.

Mechanism

Potassium Nitrate works by inhibiting the transmission across the nerve endings by diffusing across the dentinal tubules and causes depolarization of the nerve endings thus it does not respond to external stimuli
Fluoride kills the bacteria which causes tooth decay; also, it inhibits the metabolic activity of the bacteria by which it produces lactic acid It also acts by absorbing on the surface of the hydroxyapatite crystals and causes mineralization and prevents demineralization
